Manipur state government has decided to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2018

Reference:- The government of Manipur has decided to against the citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2018. This announcement has come therefore if there is no clause to protect the peoples of North Estate specially Manipur.

What is the demand of Manipur Government:-

Before some time the state submit a memorandum to the Home Minister of India to give assent by president to the Manipur people (Protection) Bill, 2018. This bill would be helpful to protect the interests of the Manipur peoples.

The Manipur Peoples (Protection) Bill, 2018:-

This bill try to regulate the illegal entry of outer migrants in Manipur. This bill basically based on the historical British- era inner line permit system which apply three another North East States such as Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Nagaland.

The Inner Line Permit:-

The Inner Line Permit (ILP) is an official travel document issued by the Government of India to grant inward travel of an Indian citizen into a protected area for a limited period. Presently this bill are applying on four states including Manipur such as Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram. This permit was issued Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 and the conditions and restrictions vary from state to state. The main objective of this document is that the visitors are not buy properties in this region. However by this document there might be a different set of rules for long term visitors. But they are not allowed for the central government and security forces of India.
