The National Bamboo Mission Seems To Be Successful

Reference:- The National Bamboo Mission was approved April 25, 2018 for implementation till the end of 14 th finance commission 2019-20.
Background of (NBM):- The bamboo is a versatile plants groups which have the capabilities to provide ecological and socio-economic support to the regional people. Before some time it was limited only the forest areas such as North East India (12% of total forest cover ). But now the demand of bamboo as a raw material are increasing rapidly. It comes as a good profited commercial agriculture to boost the low income of farmers.
Objective of (NBM):- There are many objective of NBM but some are followings;
1. To development and the growth of bamboo in differentiated strategic areas.
2. To increase the coverage of area under bamboo in potential areas, with improved varieties to enhance yields.
3. To promote marketing of bamboo and bamboo based handicrafts.
4. To establish convergence and synergy among stake-holders for the development of bamboo.
Implementation in NBM:- This scheme was started basically for North East India but now it is implementing in non government lands and the parts of states where it is socially and commercially beneficial. These bamboo rich states are followings; Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Karnataka, Uttrakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Financial Assistance:- The financial assistance provide from the central government to North East States as the Ratio 90:10. A number of consultations have been held with State Governments and Industry to invigorate the bamboo sector in the region.
