The Union Cabinet has chaired the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in view of its commitment to Annadar, a new comprehensive scheme called 'Prime Minister Endowment Conservation Campaign' (PM-ASHA). has approved. The purpose of this scheme is to provide a fair price to the farmers for their produce, which has been announced in the Union Budget of 2018. This is an extraordinary step taken by the Government of India towards the protection of the income of the farmers, which is expected to facilitate a great extent in the welfare of the farmers.
The components of 'PM-ASHA' are:- (1) Price Support Scheme (PSS) (2) Price Reduction Payment Scheme (PDPS) (3) Private Purchase and Stoist Pilot Scheme (PPPS) Other current schemes of Food and Public Distribution Department (DFPD) for purchase of paddy, wheat and nutritious cereals / coarse grains, along with other current schemes of cotton and jute, will be continued so that farmers will continue to purchase these MSP of crops can be ensured.
Other features:- The Cabinet has also decided that private sector participation in purchasing operations is also required to be piloted so that the private sector participation can be increased in the purchase operation based on the information received during this period. This is in addition to PDPS.
Budget:- The Cabinet has decided to provide additional government guarantee of Rs 16,550 crore, which has reached the level of Rs 45,550 crore in total. Apart from this, budget provisions for purchase operations have also been increased and for the implementation of PM-ASA, Rs. 15,053 crore has been approved. From now on, this plan is a reflection of the commitment and dedication of the Government towards our 'Annadataar'.
Conclusion:- It is expected that due to the increase in MSP, the support of the State Governments will go a long way in the procurement system, which will increase the income of the farmers.
