Ministry of Power and New & Renewable Energy has announced an award scheme under Saubhagya

Reference:- An award scheme has announced for the DISCOMs / Power Department of the States and their employees for achieving 100% household electrification in their working area by the Ministry of Power and New & Renewable Energy. In this Scheme some certificates and cash prize will be distribute.
About the scheme:-
Eligibility criteria:- On the basis of 100% electrification these prize will be announced by the DISCOM/ Power Department of state. Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Kerala, Punjab and Tamil Nadu has already achieved more than 99% electrification of the all states. These award will be announced in three categories.
1 DISCOMs / Power Departments of Special Category States (with includes seven North Eastern States, Sikkim, J&K and Uttarakhand).
2 Special Category States (which includes Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Telengana,)having more than 5 Lakh un-electrified households.
3 Special States having less than 5 Lakh un-electrified households.
About Saubhagya scheme:-
1 Scheme will provide free electricity connection both rural and urban areas under BPL and APL categories.
2 The Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has declared as a nodal agency for this Scheme.
3 100 % electrification in various posts of the country it the aim of this Scheme. The government of India has announced 16320 crore rupees in budget.
4 Using the SECC 2011 data the beneficiaries households will be identified for the free connection.
