Recently, during the landing of Chandrayaan-2 on moon India has lost the contact with lender (Vikram), although scientists are analyzing the causes of the lender malfunction . If this successful, India will become the fourth country to do this type of work after Russia, America and China, which has touched the surface of moon.
About Chandrayaan-2:- Chandrayaan-2was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sri Harikota on 22 July 2019. This mission has been sent after nearly 10 years of scientific research and engineering development after chandrayaan-1. Mission Chandrayaan-2 will be collect the important information about the southern part of the moon.
Features of this mission:- This mission has been sent to find out the geographical structure, location of earthquakes, the presence of minerals and their distribution, chemical composition and other information like the top surface of the soil etc Along with this mission a lander and a rover have been sent, in which the name of the lander is Vikram and rover is Pragyan. The orbiter will perform remote sensing studies with 100 KM surrounding area while on the other hand lander and rover will collect the situ-data for 3D mapping of the moon's rocky area called regolith.
Key facts: Chandrayaan-2 is the first space mission to conduct a landing in the South Pole region of the Moon and after it India became the fourth country in the world to do this kind of work. It is launched by the famous launch vehicle GSLV-MK III M1 rocket named Bahubali. GSLV-MK III is India's heaviest three- stage launch vehicle. It is capable of dropping a 4 tons payload into a GTO (Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit) or a payload weighing about 10 tons into LEO (Lower Earth Orbit).
